this silver fabric was a challenge to work with but so worth it. to me it is a mirror, reflecting beauty back to Trans folx, reflecting love back to those scared bigots who are so obviously in need of it, and reflecting the glow of the sunset as I took this picture.
it is also an emergency blanket, ready to wrap around my Trans siblings so they can recover, so they can rest, so they can get ready to carry on the fight, so they can find refuge until the new world is the only world.

Vulnerability is a thing I really really...really struggle with.
The vast majority of people who know me, don't really KNOW me. I let very few people get close, and even those few still only see the parts of me that I let them see. Letting my soft parts show is terrifying and asking for and/or accepting help is excruciating.
Someone hurt my heart real bad recently and it's hard to not feel like I set myself up for it by letting them in. It's especially hard to open back up when I'm hurting but that's really when I need people the most.
Some part of me thinks I'm protecting myself by not letting people in because it fucking hurts so much when people leave. But I know that if I keep my distance, no one will want to stick around anyway and it’s just a lil sad boi ouroboros.

this sentiment hooked into my heart and my practice this winter while reading and listening to a lot of Lama Rod Owens and thanks to a piece by Stacey Milbern in Disability Visibility called "On the Ancestral Plane".
I'm really drawn to ancestor work but at times have felt really scared to call on those who I don't think would approve of my Queer identities or parts of my world view. If I have to keep my distance I will, but first I'd like to invite them to heal with me, to learn with me, to shape change with me...and to love me.
